Free game time ESL worksheets are a fun way for students to interact with others or can be used to play a 1v1 battle with the teacher. Set out in a “battleship” style grid, students must first draw a circle in 5-10 of the empty spaces (1 circle equals 1 point). After practicing the target grammar point, the teacher must then make a sentence based on the upper and leftmost boxes, for example “There is a frog in a tree”. If the student has a circle in the matching square they lose 1 point. This can be continued for as long as the teacher wishes. For a more advanced challenge, in pairs or groups, have the students take turns in choosing their own sentence pattern to battle their friends.
